The most family-run

Of the almost 240 historic establishments in the Association, almost 100 have been run by the same family for two or more generations. Here we see those with the longest lineages, in a list of great prestige that pays tribute and honour to the establishments and to the family names that have been so much part of them for between five and seven generations. A list that is itself a fascinating journey through history and well worthy of note. At the very top, with an astonishing seven generations, we find the Nardini family, at the helm of the famous Grapperia Nardini in Ponte di Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza), as well as the Romanengo family, Confetteria Romanengo, Genoa; the Marcucci family, Ristorante Erasmo in Ponte a Moriano (Lucca) and the Agostini Venerosi della Seta family, Caffè dell’Ussero in Pisa. The following can boast a full six generations: the Gregori family, Ristorante Al Capriolo in Vodo di Cadore, and the Pra family, Hotel Alla Posta in Caprile-Alleghe, both in the province of Belluno; the Suban family, Antica Trattoria Suban in Trieste; the Bergonzi family, Ristorante Al Vedel in Colorno (Parma), and the Pansa family, Pasticceria Pansa in Amalfi (Salerno). Lastly, five generations, the Detone family, Hotel Croce Bianca in Canazei (Trento); the Manaigo family, Hotel De La Poste in Cortina d’Ampezzo (Belluno); the Wipflinger family, Ristorante Birraria Ottone in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza); the Pagiaro family, Caffè Grande Italia in Sirmione (Brescia); the Vigoni-Magenes family, Pasticceria Vigoni in Pavia; the Sciaccaluga family, Trattoria detta del Bruxaboschi in Genoa; the Rossignotti family, Pasticcerie Rossignotti in Sestri Levante (Genoa); the Atti family, Pasticcerie Paolo Atti & figli in Bologna; the Pedroni family, Ristorante Osteria di Rubbiara in Nonantola (Modena); the Piegaja family, Hotel Royal Victoria in Pisa; the Schucani family, Pasticceria Sandri in Perugia; the Bianconi family, Hotel Palazzo Seneca and the Granaro del Monte Grotta Azzurra in Norcia (Perugia); the Mariani family, Ristorante Checchino 1887, and the Bettoja family, Ristorante Massimo d’Azeglio, both in Rome; the Grass family, Pasticceria Stoppani in Bari; the Conticello family, Antica Focacceria San Francesco, and the Catanese-Romeres families, Casa del Brodo “dal dottore”, both in Palermo.
