A sweet gem in the heart of Genoa's historic centre, Pasticceria Klainguti was founded in 1828 by four brothers from Engadine who, while travelling towards the Americas, were so enchanted by the Ligurian capital that they decided to stay and open their own shop here. Frequented by artists, writers and ordinary Genoese citizens, the establishment owes part of its fame to Giuseppe Verdi: the famous Falstaff brioche was created for the Maestro, still made today according to the original recipe, together with the historic Torta Zena, born within these very walls. After its post-Covid closure, the pastry shop was acquired by the Douce group and underwent a meticulous restoration in agreement with the Superintendency, recovering original recipes and furnishings in Rococo and Baroque styles. Today, the shop has returned to its former splendour, offering a unique experience with perfectly restored period décor and authentic desserts.
