Founded in 1911 by the Guichardaz family in the heart of Courmayeur, the Caffè della Posta quickly became the village's elegant drawing room, a gathering spot for residents and distinguished holidaymakers. After its 1938 renovation in Turin style, the Caffè reached the height of its social heyday in the 1960s, attracting legendary personalities such as actor Errol Flynn and King Farouk of Egypt, famous for his eccentric requests for mandarin juice. Today, it is a small living museum with historic furnishings, from the 16th-century Savoyard fireplace to the 17th-century coffered ceiling. The Guichardaz family has taken over the management with passion, restoring the café to its original splendour. More than a café, it is a community heritage site: guardian of collective memory and symbol of Courmayeur's identity.
