Il Boeucc ('the hole' in Milanese dialect) began its legendary history in 1696 as a small tavern on Via Borgogna, at the corner with Via Durini: the Five Days of Milan began here, thanks to the patriot-innkeeper who counted Giuseppe Mazzini among his regular customers. In 1939, it moved to Palazzo Belgioioso, not far from Piazza della Scala. The bond between the Boeucc and the great theatre is indissoluble: Toscanini dined here with half a bottle of Champagne, Maestro Maazel once arrived late to conduct a Falstaff because he was captivated by the flavours, and Eduardo de Filippo declared that they served the best spaghetti with tomato and basil outside Naples. In 2025, it returns ' towards home', to Corso Monforte 16, just a few steps from its origins, a timeless symbol of Milanese culinary tradition. A forgotten curiosity: it once hosted the headquarters of Ambrosiana Inter, the team from which Milan and Inter were born.
