An important collection of antique weapons and copper objects serves as the backdrop to this place, which is still managed by one of the few remaining Venetian restaurateur families in the city.
It is indeed the Salmaso family who skillfully run the Ristorante Da Raffaele, born in the early fifties from the legacy of a typical Venetian "bacaro" (wine bar). The location remains enchanting today as it was then, on the Fondamenta delle Ostreghe, although the small 'ombre e cicchetti' (shadows and cicchetti) place has been transformed into a restaurant that has since become a favourite haunt for internationally renowned artists, actors, and singers.
Today, the Salmaso family also manages two other Historical Places of Italy in Venice, the Hotel Ala and the Hotel Pensione Accademia, where one can still breathe the true splendor of the Serenissima.
