The last crotto in Como, it bears witness to the timehonoured tradition in which natural cavities in the mountains were used to preserve food and wine. In the eighteenth century it was also a home and, as the license shows, in 1880 the Cantaluppi family turned it into an inn with its own boules court. Surrounded by centuries-old trees and beautifully restored in 1997, it still has the original brick-dressed rock ceiling, the ice room, the nineteenth-century entrance door with antique coins set into it, and the ancient establishment above. Local cuisine revisited in great style.
