Ten generations! The family founder Johann Kühbacher bought it for 5,588 florins and his son married the daughter of his competitor, who ran the nearby Orso Grigio. A dynasty was born, and the family oversaw the development of tourism in Alta Pusteria, building the first chairlift in San Candido in 1949. Destroyed by a grenade in the First World War and by two fires, the building, with its stube, suites and rooms, rose up again with all the charm of South Tyrolean tradition.
