Italy's oldest distillery was founded here, in the premises below the Nardini Grapperia, which still stands today on Palladio's Ponte Vecchio. It was 1779 when Bortolo Nardini transformed an ancient rural tradition – that of going from house to house with a mobile still to distil pomace – into a noble art that is still alive today, starting to sell that 'aqua vitae' that later became famous throughout the world. We are in Bassano del Grappa, in the heart of the Veneto region, where great history has written indelible pages and where Hemingway imagined A Farewell to Arms. Today, it is the seventh generation of the Nardini family that continues the family tradition and spreads the culture of grappa, an Italian icon appreciated by queens and poets, actresses and presidents. It is also possible to book a guided tour of the private rooms with tasting of some of the distillery's iconic products. For more information, visit: www.nardini.it/prenota-la-tua-visita.
